China Pavilion design for Shanghai World Expo selected

Nov. 16, 2007 (China Knowledge) ¨CThe preliminary design plans for the China Pavilion at Shanghai World Expo 2010, located at the Waterfront of the Huangpu River between Nanpu Bridge and Lupu Bridge, downtown Shanghai, have been chosen from a star-studded international architectural field, Shanghai Daily reported.
This exhibitions held in the displaying area would emphasize the theme "Chinese wisdom in urban development", according to the organizers. Chosen from 344 entries submitted from all over the world, the design was finally decided to be the traditional Chinese style. 
According to sources, the construction of the pavilion will begin next month. More than 350 Expo delegates have listened to the progress report and stepped up their own plan in the second annual participants’ meeting in Shanghai. 
180 countries and international organizations have already signed up for the 184-day event, which will begin on May 1, 2010.
